Creating a bird's Nest
With the beautiful Spring we've been lucky to have on the island, I've been so inspired by nature. We are blessed to have the sweetest hummingbirds, robins and various other's visit our backyard daily. Together, the boys and I made clay bird nests this week.
I had found a few photo's online of these and Pinterest sure is great for inspiration- here's what worked for us!
We began by collecting a few natural items from our backyard. This could also be done at a park, during a walk or a hike. We worked with what we had- leaves, feathers and flowers. Let your children decide what they would like to collect for the birds nest.
We headed back inside and began molding our clay into a birds nest. I showed my son a few pictures to give him an idea of what he could create, but again- there is no right or wrong here! After he molded the clay to his liking, he decorated it with the items we had collected earlier.
He also wanted to add birdseed so once it dried, we threw some birdseed inside and found a spot in our backyard for it.
This nature inspired art is not necessarily meant to be a real birds nest, more than an art activity for your children- but hey, if they want to put it outside for the birds like mine, then why not!
Happy Friday and Happy connecting everyone.
Comment below and let me know if your children decided to keep it outside for the birds or inside as art!
